PORTLAND — The Portland Sea Dogs have provided the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame with a home at Hadlock Field.
Sea Dogs General Manager Geoff Iacuessa and Don Douglas from the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame unveiled the home of the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame in the Portland Room at Hadlock Field on Saturday before that afternoon’s Sea Dogs’ game against the Binghamton Mets.
The Maine Baseball Hall of Fame was established in 1969 and has over 500 members. The Maine Baseball Hall of Fame had never had a permanent home or a public display to showcase the great people who have made a significant contribution to the game of baseball in Maine. The Portland Room will be open to the public during Sea Dogs’ home games allowing fans the opportunity to see the display. The Maine Baseball hall of Fame display at Hadlock Field was made possible by Tyler Technologies.
The Maine Baseball Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization which seeks to recognize and celebrate notable contributions to the rich history of baseball in Maine.
The Sea Dogs and Maine Baseball Hall of Fame encourage fans to visit the display frequently in the Portland Room as it continues to evolve with historic photos, artifacts, and more.
The 2012 Maine Baseball Hall of Fame inductees will be honored in a pre-game ceremony at Hadlock Field on August 4.
