BRUNSWICK — Jessie Alcaide of Harpswell has qualified for the 2012 Olympic Swimming Trials in the 50- and 100- meter freestyle events.

Her qualifying times of 26.19 in the 50 and 57.10 in the 100 were held at Purdue’s Boilermaker Aquatic Center in early April.

Alcaide also had a solid chance to make the trials in the 100 butterfly, where her personal-best time of 1:02.20 is just 0.21 seconds off the qualifying standard. She will have three opportunities to make the butterfly cut, with the trials slated to take place in Omaha, Neb., in late June.

Before Alcaide headed to Florida in 2011 to train with the South Florida Swim Club, she was a standout performer for the Long Reach Swim Club’s Snail Darters, the University of Maine Black Bears and the Maine Masters Blue Lobstahs.
