BRUNSWICK — A 16-year- old boy was charged Friday morning with stealing a safe containing several hundred dollars from the Parkwood Inn.
Brunswick police responded at 11:45 p.m. Thursday to the hotel on Gurnet Road for a report that someone had stolen a small cash safe, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan said Monday.
Police eventually found the safe in a wooded area behind the building, and an investigation led them to the boy, who was staying in the hotel with his family.
Hagan had no information on the family’s address.
On Friday morning, the boy was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
