HARPSWELL — The Harpswell Community Nursery School will host its annual open house from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kellogg Church, 917 Harpswell Neck Road. Prospective parents are welcome to attend with their children.
The school, housed at the Kellogg Church, was founded in the fall of 2003, and is licensed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
"The school’s child-centered curriculum strives for a balance between planned projects and the spontaneous exploration of topics or materials based on the children’s interests,” a release from the school states. “The low teacher-to-child ratio of 1-to-6 allows for individual attention, while a focus on nature and ecological practices provides children with a connection to their world, a key cornerstone of the program.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
