The Mt. Ararat High School Stage Company will perform the one-act play “Le Moulin” in the Mt. Ararat High School Commons at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
“Le Moulin,” written by seniors Hilary and Morgana Warner-Evans, is the story of Mary Cunningham, a wealthy Brunswick girl, played by senior Allie Bouchard, who is sent into the Cabot Mill by her father’s friend Benjamin Greene, portrayed by sophomore Brian Messmer, to talk the mule spinners out of striking for the same pay they would receive at the Lewiston mill.
While working at the mill, Mary befriends a French Canadian ring spinner, Jeanne Guilbault (freshman Amy Eldredge). The story takes place circa 1887, the year of a strike by mule spinners at the Cabot Mill.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
