To the editor:

A picture of the proposed Brunswick police station appeared recently in The Times Record.

Taking a shot at someone’s architectural taste is risky. They are entitled to their own view of what is pretty and what is ugly.

They are not, however, entitled to build just another building.

The new police station will be in an area dominated by automobile dealerships and fast-food outlets. The architect must distinguish this building from its surroundings.

To do this, he has an opportunity to create a building with grace and dignity. And he can honor a profession dedicated to preserving law and order.
