To the editor:
Our latest flier from Central Maine Power (no. 00083876) is titled “New online map tool gives you information during an outage.”
It goes on to say “Our new Outage Manager lets you view an interactive map that shows you up-to-date outage information. You’ll be able to see how many customers are out of power and where — right down to the neighborhood level….”
They are obviously emphasizing the capability of their new “ smart meters.” From this flier, it appears that these new smart meters must have super magical powers that CMP have just discovered; in other words, these smart meters must be able to transmit power by wireless transmission in order to provide power to your computer when your power line is down.
It makes you wonder if this is bad PR or bad propaganda.
