PROVIDENCE, R. I. — Junior Peter Gilman and freshman Zak Dipini each posted 3-0 marks to lead the University of Southern Maine to a 2-1 day at a quad match hosted by Johnson & Wales University Sunday afternoon at the Harborside Recreation Center.
The Huskies, ranked sixth in the most recent New England Wrestling Association poll, defeated Springfield Technical Community College 33-24 and dominated Norwich University 37-9 for their two wins. Southern Maine fell to host Johnson & Wales 28- 14.
The Huskies’ dual meet record stands at 7-3.
Logan Russell (157) of Bath decisioned David Pinto of Norwich, 2-1; pinned James Zupko of Springfield in 1:30; and lost to Eric Kogel of J & W, 8-3. Rick Chipman of Bath also wrestled at 165 and took a forfeit win against Springfield.
Southern Maine hosts the Coast Guard and Trinity ( Conn.) on Wednesday ( 5 p.m.).
