ARROWSIC
A Georgetown man was struck by a car Saturday morning while bicycling along Arrowsic Road in Arrowsic, according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department.
The incident was reported at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, Chief Deputy Brett Strout said. Brian Bartlett, 57, of 257 Five Islands Road, Georgetown, was pedaling north in the northbound lane of Arrowsic Road, when a 17- year old female driver from Georgetown traveling in the same direction in a Ford Taurus came up behind him at a corner in the road, Strout said.
When she realized Bartlett was in her path, the motorist tried to veer to the left, but she couldn’t because a truck with a snow plow was coming in the other direction, Strout said. The teen’s vehicle struck Bartlett from behind.
Bath EMS took Bartlett to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.
The driver was not charged.
