ORONO — University of Maine senior forward Spencer Abbott was named the Athletic Republic Hockey East Co-Player of the Week recently.
Abbott had a goal and five assists en route to Florida College Classic Most Valuable Player honors.
In Maine’s 6-1 win over Clarkson on Thursday, Abbott had a goal and two assists. He followed that up with three assists in Maine’s 5-2 win over UMass in the title game.
Abbott earned the Shawn Walsh Memorial Award as the MVP of the Tournament.
Abbott leads Maine in scoring with 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points. He ranks second in the nation in both points, with 29, and points per game, averaging 1.71 per contest. He leads the nation in assists per game, averaging 1.06 per game.
Maine plays in the 2012 Sun Life Frozen Fenway on Saturday against the University of New Hampshire in Boston.
