BATH — Kristen Anderson amassed 41 points and Adrianna Newton 25 as the Leavitt High School girls ran past Morse 83-69 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B play at Bath Middle School on Thursday.

The Hornets jumped out to a 26-10 lead after a quarter, led 42- 28 at the half and 64- 44 after three before withstanding a Shipbuilder run.

“There was a time in the fourth quarter that we were within eight points,” said Morse (1-3) coach Mike Hart, whose team visits Belfast on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. “We had zero quit in a game that was played up-tempo. We rattled Leavitt. We are starting to feel it as a team and I think we will begin to get better results from here.”

Kerry Cummings and Sadia Crosby led Morse with 16 points each, with Katie Henrikson chipping in 15 points and three assists. Brianna Bigelow also scored in double figures with 12 points. Crosby pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds, Cummings picked up four steals and Tori Field had seven points and five assists.

Leavitt ( 5- 0) was 15 of 23 from the foul line, while the Shipbuilders finished 16 of 28.
