RUMFORD ( AP) — A Maine man is recovering from a stab wound and a Connecticut man is under arrest following a weekend domestic altercation.
The mother of 21-year-old Tom Burgess of Rumford tells The Sun-Journal of Lewiston that her son was stabbed in the chest while trying to help a woman friend who was being dragged away by her exboyfriend in Bangor on Sunday night.
Police responding to reports of a fight arrested 20- year-old Erik Nowak of Wolcott, Conn..
Nowak was charged with aggravated assault and held at the Penobscot County Jail on $1,500 bail.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10.
Sharon Burgess, Tom Burgess’ mother, says she is proud of her two sons for stepping in. Her other son was not hurt.
