Business Expo at Summerfest

The Windham Economic Development Corporation’s Board of Directors has agreed to sponsor the first Lakes Region Business Expo at Windham’s Summerfest celebration on June 20.

“The Business Expo is a way for local business people to support this community event while at the same time providing an opportunity for them to meet with and speak to the thousands of area residents who attend about their products and services,” said Tom Bartell, WEDC executive director. “The WEDC encourages all Windham businesses to consider participating.”

The WEDC’s mission is to encourage economic development in Windham by supporting existing businesses, attracting new businesses to Windham, and supporting the work-force development needs of the employees in Windham.

To participate in the Lakes Region Business Expo, you can contact the Windham Summerfest Committee at 892-1905.

Thank you

Many thanks to all who so generously donated pet food to the Windham Food Pantry on Saturday, May 30, at the Kennel Shop. Lots of cats and dogs will now be able to enjoy good, nutritious food. You’re all wonderful to be willing to give so much, especially in this economically difficult time. And thank you to the Kennel Shop for all your help. You truly made the drive a success.

Cancer support group

This group is officially called the Windham Cancer Support Group, but only because it meets in Windham. The meetings are held at the Windham Public Library’s meeting room downstairs on the last Monday of the month (except in May and December due to holidays). The hardest part for most people is to walk in the door that first time, but once they do, they always come back for more. It’s a warm and inviting group that shares stories, information, laughs and an occasional tear. Whether you’ve had cancer or know someone who does or has in the past, please come check out the group. You’ll be glad you did.

The library’s address is 217 Windham Center Road. If you have any questions, e-mail Jeanne at jeannecurtin@yahoo.com. The next meeting is Monday, June 29, from 6:30- 8 p.m.
