Four local cribbage players were named top players of the year for the Cumberland County Cribbage Club.
Gordon Perry of Standish came in first for 2008, meaning he won more games than anyone else for the year. He said an average of 16-18 people play twice a month.
Second place went to Dick Brown of South Portland, third place to Barbara McPhee of Windham and an honorable mention went to Bud Elston on Windham.
Barbara McPhee also won the flying turkey trophy for having the most last place finishes for the year.
“I love the game,” said Perry, who has been playing for 55 years. “I just can’t get enough of it.”
The club meets at the Windham/Gorham Rod and Gun Club at 8 Towpath Road in Gorham on the second and last Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
