Well read
In celebration of Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’ birthday in March, fourth-grade students from Cathie Bunk’s and Christine Hesler’s class at George E. Jack School in Standish presented a short program at Gorham House.
The students serenaded the residents of Gorham House with several songs including “I Think You’re Wonderful,” “This Land is Your Land” and “America.” They then read to residents and members of the Gorham Preschool, housed at Gorham House, sharing books by Dr. Suess and stories written by the students themselves.
“The community atmosphere during partner reading felt precious to all involved and listening. Everyone thought ‘This is what life really is – children reading and interacting with others’,” said Bunk.
