Leaf and Brush pile:

The Windham Public Works leaf and brush disposal area at 185 Windham Center Road will be open from Oct. 20 to Nov. 13 for disposal of leaves and brush only:

There are a few rules to keep in mind when coming to the brush pile:

• Separate piles will be maintained for leaves and brush – please seperate.

• Dispose of leaves and brush in designated areas only. Please follow signs.

• Leaves must be removed from bags, please remove them from the bags and take the bags with you.

• Leaf and brush disposal area is for Windham residents only.

Bulky Waste:

In other Windham Public Works news, there will be no bulky waste disposal this fall.

According to the department, if you have items you want to dispose of such as furniture, appliances, carpeting and construction debris, you may take them to the following locations:

(Please note that these facilities charge fees for disposal. You may wish to call in advance to obtain the current rate information.)

• Plan-It Recycling & Transfer Inc. located at 18 Gorham Industrial Parkway (Route 25 in Gorham, just beyond Crockett Interiors) FMI 854-5353. Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

• Riverside Recycling Facility located at 910 Riverside Street in Portland. (Take a left from Roosevelt Trail onto Riverside Street) FMI 797-6200. Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

• Casco-Naples Transfer Station located at 425 Leach Hill Road in Casco. (From Windham take Roosevelt Trail to Casco, take a right onto Route 11 and a left onto Leach Hill Road) FMI 627-7585. Open 7 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
