Have you turned down a chance to go out with family or friends because you were concerned about falling? Have you cut down on a favorite activity because you might fall? If so, A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls is a program for you.
The next nine-class series, located at the Bridgton Community Center, will be held each Monday and Tuesday from April 2 through April 30, at 9-11 a.m. Program cost is $10; scholarships are available. A workbook is provided and refreshments are served.
A Matter of Balance is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults, thus improving quality of life and independence. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple exercises to increase strength and balance.
A Matter of Balance is sponsored by Southern Maine Agency on Aging and Partnership for Healthy Aging, in collaboration with Healthy Options Together, a local Healthy Maine Partnership. Contact Lorraine at 647-3116 to register or for more information.
