Mr. and Mrs. Claude E. Webber celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Jan. 27 at their home in Standish.
Mr. Webber and the former Joline Wilson were married Jan. 26, 1947 in Farmington, Maine by Rev. Harding Gaylord of Old South Congregational Church.
A family party took place at their home to celebrate the special occasion. A luncheon was prepared by family members, including a beautiful cake decorated with fresh flowers and the original bride and groom cake topping.
The Webbers have three children: Terry (Webber) and husband, Ted Pettengill of Patten; Jill (Webber) and her husband, Ronald Porter of Gardiner; and son Jonn C. Webber and his wife Karen of Standish. They have six grandchildren (Jason, Derek and Caleb Pettengill, Jeremy, Joshua and Jessica Porter) and seven great-grandchildren (Cassandra and Caitlin Baker, Riley and Parker Pettengill and Logan, Lani and Tessa Porter).
Greetings were received from President George Bush and wife Laura and from Governor John Baldacci as well as many cards and telephone calls from family and friends.
Mrs. Webber was employed by SAD 6 as a teacher. Mr. Webber was employed by SAD 6 as an elementary supervising principal for 35 years.
