Editor,
As we approach the upcoming elections, candidates who seek to return to Augusta tell us that they are for job creation, tax relief, and economic growth. Is there any correlation between what they tell us and how they actually voted on these issues over the last two years?
The nonpartisan Maine Economic Research Institute has assigned a rating for each legislator seeking re-election based on their voting record. More than 200 bills which directly affect the Maine economy were included in their analysis.
Following are the MERI ratings for the incumbents in the Lakes Region for the last two years:
Gary Plummer: 92 percent, Rich Cebra: 92 percent, Bill Diamond: 54 percent, and Mark Bryant: 13 percent. This information will help voters decide who will best represent the people of the Lakes Region.
