Vice President Dick Cheney came to Cape Elizabeth for lunch Monday, appearing for a Republican fundraiser at the home of Christophe Lynch, 880 Shore Road.

According to Julie Ann O’Brien, director of the Maine Republican Party, roughly 50 to 60 people attended the luncheon, which raised over $100,000. Republicans from Cape Elizabeth and surrounding towns were invited, she said.

O’Brien said Lynch was gracious and relaxed about the heightened security surrounding the vice president’s visit. She said the house and setting were beautiful and the weather cooperated.

Cheney flew into the Portland Jetport and came directly to the Shore Road residence, leaving the area soon after. He stayed from about 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., she said.
