Memory intact

On Aug. 3, an officer found a Canon digital camera in the middle of Route 77 in the area of Two Lights General Store. The camera was inside a black pouch and heavily damaged, but the memory card appeared operable. The camera has been tagged and stored in dispatch.

Midnight golfing

On Aug. 2 at about 12:40 a.m., a golf cart was discovered on the front steps of the Cape Elizabeth High School. There was no damage to the cart, but the ignition key was missing. The owner of the cart was identified and it was returned.

Garage caper

On Aug. 3, a Cross Hill resident reported that some time between July 30 and Aug. 1, a blue nylon tool bag worth $60, a sub woofer worth about $150, and an iPod worth $300 were stolen from his garage.

Freelance writer

On Aug. 4 at around 9:20 a.m., a Shore Road area resident reported someone had illegally entered the basement and used chalk to write graffiti on the floor. A suspect has been identified and the case is under further investigation.

Bold bathers

On Aug. 5, at around 3:10 p.m., police and the Cape Elizabeth Fire Department were called to Crescent Beach State Park. A park authority said several bathers who were intoxicated swam to Seal Rock, about 300 yards from the beach, and had ignored a lifeguard’s order to return. When a boat was launched from Kettle Cove, the three suspects started to swim to shore. All three swimmers were escorted back to shore. The group was removed from the park without incident.

Aug. 6

William S. Conley, 46, Great Pond Terrace, South Portland, was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault, criminal restraint and violation of bail conditions.

Joel Schroder, 41, 11 Kirkland Avenue, South Portland, was issued a summons on Sawyer Road for failing to produce insurance.

Aug. 2

Virginia Weill, 21, 38 Broad Cove Road, Cape Elizabeth, was issued a summons on Bowery Beach Road for speeding 59 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Aug. 3

Juleanne Stewart, 45, 33 Phillip Road, Cape Elizabeth, was issued a summons on Scott Dyer Road for failing to produce insurance.

Aug. 4

Mollie Coburn, 34, 26 Reef Road, Cape Elizabeth, was issued a summons on Scott Dyer Road for failing to produce insurance.

Aug. 5

Susan Latorre, 55, 47 Hannaford Cove Road, Cape Elizabeth, was issued a summons on Ocean View Road for criminal trespassing.

Aug. 6

Kate Blake, 29, 10 Chapel St., South Portland, was issued a summons on Sawyer Road for an unregistered motor vehicle.

William Conley, 46, 39 Center St., South Portland, was issued a summons on Great Pond Terrace for domestic violence assault, criminal restraint and violation of bail conditions.

Fire and Rescue

The Cape Rescue squad responded to 14 calls between Aug. 1 and Aug. 5. Eight patients were transported to Maine Medical Center, one was transported to Mercy Hospital and five required no transportation.

The Cape Fire Department responded to an activated fire alarm on Old Mill Road at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 1, a smoke detector sounding on Rocky Point Lane at 2:51 a.m. on Aug. 2, an airplane in distress at the Portland Jetport at 10:42 a.m. on Aug. 2, a ruptured gas line on Ocean View Road at 1:36 p.m. on Aug. 2, a gas leak on Monastery Road at 12:22 p.m. on Aug. 3, a motor vehicle accident on Two Lights Road at 12:34 p.m. on Aug. 3, an alarm activation on Scott Dyer Road at 6:24 p.m. on Aug. 3, an assistance call from Scarborough at 8:35 a.m. on Aug. 7 and an assistance call from South Portland at 10:38 a.m. on Aug. 7.

The Cape Fire Department’s WETeam responded to a call for assistance from Crescent Beach State Park at 3:12 p.m. on Aug. 5.
