The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust will hold its second annual Challenge Sprint Triathlon, on Sunday, Sept. 24.
The event will raise money for Cape Land Trust acquisitions and operating costs. It features two races: the triathlon – a 425-yard swim, a 14-mile bike race and a three-mile run, and a duathlon – a one-and-a-half-mile run, a 14-mile bike race and a three-mile run.
Team entries are encouraged. The Corporate Challenge will place local businesses and organizations head-to-head with other local businesses, including the land trust’s own team. Those interested in the Corporate Challenge are asked to contact the land trust, while all others may register online at www.active.com.
The event will also feature the popular Harvest Festival post race celebration, which is open to the entire community. With live bluegrass music, a local farmer’s market, kids games and activities, fantastic raffle prizes and our best pie contest, the event promises fun for all. This year’s Harvest Festival has been moved from Gull Crest to the middle school fields to allow more spectators to view the race.
Anyone interested in competing, volunteering or sponsoring this event should contact Chris Franklin at the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust at 767-6054 or by e-mail at celt@gwi.net.
