Air Force Airman Martha L. Shaw has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Shaw, who is a 2005 graduate of South Portland High School, is the daughter of Edward and Carole Shaw of Gorham.

During the six weeks of training, Shaw studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies. She also performed drill and ceremony marches along with physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

Graduates also earn credits towards an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
