She graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School, then received her B.A. in Theater from the University of Maine at Farmington. Maria went on to study film in New York City, where she worked as a stand-up comedian for three years. Eventually making the move to Los Angeles, she discovered her love of writing. She returned home to have her very first children’s book published. Before joining the team at the Times Record, Maria returned to her roots and began writing for the Cape Courier.
