LISBON — Registration for the 2017 “Build A Better World” Summer Reading Program has begun at the Lisbon Library.
This free program is open to children entering kindergarten through grade 12 in September who are residents of Lisbon or Lisbon Falls, or whose families have non-resident patron status.
Designed to promote reading for fun, the Lisbon Library offers a series of weekly programs on Tuesday afternoons at 1 p.m., which are then repeated on Thursday evenings at 5 p.m. These programs include an assortment of crafts, science experiments and other activities.
The kick-off event for the program is on June 27 at 2:30 p.m. and will be presented by Mad Science of Maine at the Masonic Lodge in Lisbon Falls. The presentation will feature a new performance all about the fun science of engineering.
The library will also be hosting performer “Lindsay & Her Puppet Pals” on Friday, July 21 at 1 p.m.
For more information, including the full schedule of events, call the Lisbon Library at (207) 353-6564, or send an email to lisbonlibrary@yahoo.com with “Summer Reading” in the subject line.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
