WISCASSET

Two Augusta men have been charged with a theft of a safe from a residence in Wiscasset on June 25. The Lincoln County Sheriff ’s Office has charged Jake Pilsbury, 25, and Derrick Smith, 28, in connection with the burglary and theft of the safe. Wiscasset police state the owner had reported in excess of $40,000 was stored in the safe.

On July 19, Lincoln County

Sheriff’s Office Detectives assisted by Augusta Police and Maine State Police executed a search warrant at an apartment on Washington Street in Augusta. Police say stolen property, heroin and drug paraphernalia were seized. A stolen vehicle was also recovered in the immediate vicinity. The vehicle had been stolen from Topsham on June 25, according to police.

Pilsbury is charged with burglary and theft, and is currently incarcerated at the Cumberland County Jail. He had been arrested by Portland police on a warrant and drug charges on July 2 in Portland.

Smith is charged with receiving stolen property and aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and is being held at the Kennebec County Jail pending a court appearance.

The Maine State, Augusta, Wiscasset and Topsham police assisted in the investigation, as well as the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
