PHIPPSBURG — The popular Maine-based folk trio T-Acadie will perform “Hidden Gems of the Season” at the Phippsburg Congregational Church at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
T-Acadie — Cajun French slang for “a little Acadia” — is Jim Joseph, Pam Weeks and Bill Olson, a trio grounded in their love of Quebecois, Acadian, Cajun and Southern old-time songs and tunes.
Playing together for more than 20 years, the group has become known for their close harmony vocals and versatility with a variety of unusual instruments.
“Hidden Gems of the Season” will feature lesser-known songs and tunes of the holidays and winter season. The program will include French carols, Southern Gospel, old English wassail songs, Cajun Christmas songs, swing, a variety of instrumental pieces, Maine folk songs and more. Vocals will be accompanied by instruments as varied as fiddle, dulcimer, cello, button accordion, banjo, mandolin, guitar and upright bass.
The show will be performed at the historic 1802 Phippsburg Congregational Church situated on the banks of the Kennebec River.
The Phippsburg Congregational Church is located at 10 Church Lane at Parker Head Road.
