BANGOR (AP) — Police say a Bangor man has been charged after falsely accusing an undercover officer of stealing $500 from him.
Officials say Bangor police Lt. Tim Reid approached two men who were acting suspiciously on a street corner at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday before being joined by a uniformed officer. The two men were argumentative and were told to leave the area.
Police say the men later showed up at the police station and claimed that Reid had taken $500 from one of them, stating he was taking the cash because it was drug money.
After the men were separated and interviewed, police charged 21- year- old Shawn Beede with filing a false public report.
