GORHAM — The Freeport High School indoor track team opened its season on Friday with a Western Maine Conference meet at the University of Southern Maine.
Behind a pair of first-place showings by Harrison Stivers, the Falcon boys scored 37 points.
Stivers won the junior 200 in 24.94 and the junior 400 in 54.56. Taylor Saucier was second in the two mile (10:37.26) and third in the one mile (4:42.72), while Zach Greene earned two points by finishing sixth in the senior 200 (24.65).
York won the boys meet with 228 points, with Falmouth ( 147 points), Greely (100), Gray-New Gloucester ( 72), Yarmouth ( 60) and Freeport (37) rounding out the field.
In the girls meet, Greely took the top spot with 300 points, followed by Falmouth (153), York (72), Gray-NG (58), Freeport (27) and Yarmouth (26).
Alyssa Richardson scored twice for the Falcons, finishing second to Greely’s Sarah Fitch in the 800 in 2:44.94 and fourth in the one- mile run (6:11.44).
Katie O’Neal finished fifth in both the junior 200 (30.16) and open long jump (13-11.75).
Also scoring for Freeport were Lexi Dietrick (fourth, junior shot put, 21-10.50), Abby Roney (fifth, senior 55, 8.11) and Kayla Thurlow (sixth, senior shot put, 23-11.25).
Freeport is slated to return to USM on Friday for a WMC meet at 3:30 p.m.
