MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Last week, the Topsham Public Library held a business roundtable featuring information about Solarize Midcoast Maine which promotes the Installation of solar power for both homes and businesses. (You may recall the town of Brunswick, Brunswick Downtown Association and Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber provided information about the Solarize Brunswick program last fall.) If you were interested but weren’t part of the town of Brunswick, now’s your chance.

Currently, the Midcoast Economic Development District is partnering with the city of Bath and other member communities in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox and portions of Cumberland and Waldo counties to offer a solarize program for homeowners and businesses. The program provides the power of group purchasing and a discounted price per watt for any system sized over 8,000 watts. There’s also a federal tax credit.

Informational workshops will provide details about solar installations including costs, payback, financial incentives and installation procedures. These workshops are free of charge. Here’s the list of public sessions where you can join Midcoast Economic Development District and Sundog Solar to learn more about solar installations:

• Feb. 23, 6-8 p.m., Bath City Hall Auditorium

• March 2, 6-8 p.m., Watts Hall, Thomaston
