LISBON

The Lisbon Town Council will discuss the town charter relative to holding a budget referendum during its meeting tonight, which begins at 7 p.m. at the town office.

Also before the council for a first reading is a new municipal ordinance chapter, in response to a new state law that legalized fireworks in Maine effective Jan. 1. The proposed town rule is titled “ Chapter 24. Public Safety Article 1. Fireworks.”

Also during the meeting, the council will:

— Hold a public hearing as part of its consideration to renew a pawnbroker establishment license for Daniel N. Miller Jr., doing business as Double Diamond Pawn.

— Review the 2012- 13 municipal budget schedule.

— Discuss selection of the person to receive the 2012 Lisbon Spirit of America tribute.

— Hear Town Manager Steve Eldridge’s report.

— Consider appointing Heather Skolfield to the Recreation Committee for a term expiring June 30,2014.

The council is scheduled to enter into executive session to conduct the town manager’s evaluation and then conduct labor negotiations with the police officers’ and sergeants’ union.

After the regular meeting, the Town Council will hold a workshop with its police, fire and library department heads, as part of its ongoing municipal budget process.
