PHIPPSBURG
The Dickie Lemont “Take a Kid Fishing” Ice Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association, will be held on Sunday.
Fish from the lakes and ponds of Sagadahoc County are eligible in the derby, which is open to anglers of all ages.
Youth participation is encouraged and all youth participants will receive prizes.
The door prize is a Maine Resident Lifetime Fishing License, and first-, secondand third-place prizes will be offered to young anglers in each category of sport fish. Prizes include traps from Max Traps and Bill Harmon’s handmade pack baskets.
Tickets cost $1 each or $5 for six tickets.
Weigh-in is from noon to 4 p. m. at the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association Clubhouse and Outdoor Education Center on Route 209.
Members of the Sportsmen’s Association will provide help with technique or equipment to those new to ice fishing. For more information, call 443-9426 and leave a message.
The event is made possible through support from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and more than 100 local businesses and individuals.
