
He was born September 26, 1920, in Durham, a son of Ernest and Sarah (Mitchell) Tupper. He was educated in Durham and Lisbon schools, graduating from Lisbon High School in 1938.
He married Alice Bourgoin on September 12, 1942. Three days later, he began Army Air Force service in World War II, flying 32 missions over Germany as the belly gunner in a B-24 bomber. After the war, he worked at Worumbo Mill in Lisbon Falls for 40 years. He also owned and operated Tupper Construction and Country Acres Trailer Park, both in Durham. His last position was loader operator at Labbe Construction in Brunswick. For many years, he served as President of the Tupper Family Association of America. He was a lifelong member of Shiloh Chapel in Durham.

He is survived by his wife Alice of Durham; one daughter, Joan Tupper Anderson, and her husband Jonathan of Durham; two sons, Jackson II and Robert and his wife Rhonda ( Stevens), all of Durham; four grandchildren, Macee Turcotte Damon and her husband David, of Arlington, Mass., Jason Turcotte and his wife Jessica (White) of Durham, Melinda Tupper Benevides and her husband Thomas, of New Bedford, Mass., and Mitchell Tupper and his longtime girlfriend Sarah Young of Milford; and six great-grandchildren, Cyndle, Trinity, Talon, and Jazmin Turcotte, and Christopher and Courtney Staples.
He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Tupper; six sisters; and three brothers.
