AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster has retained his position despite controversy over the state’s presidential caucuses.

The state GOP committee voted to keep Webster as chairman at its meeting in Augusta over the weekend.

Webster tells the Bangor Daily News he was pleased to have the support of many legislators and that he understood the frustration of some. He says his most important job is recruiting candidates and raising money.
