TOPSHAM — More than 62,000 flowers, 800 Limited Edition Boyd’s Bears and 1,000 potted daffodil bulbs were packaged, wrapped and delivered to people throughout Maine last month for the American Cancer Society’s annual Daffodil Days fundraiser.
In addition, 450 Gift of Hope daffodil bouquets were purchased anonymously and delivered to cancer patients at local medical facilities, and 210 Bear Hugs were sent to children affected by cancer.
“Although Daffodil Days involves giving beautiful flowers, it is really about giving hope for a future free from cancer,” Crystal Derocher of the American Cancer Society said in a release. “Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Daffodil Days by requesting flowers for their homes and offices. With your support, we can continue to provide tips and tools to help people reduce their cancer risk, provide free patient services and around-the-clock guidance, and conduct groundbreaking research into cancer’s causes and cures.”
