CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College put a dent in Gettysburg’s playoff hopes by holding on for a 5-4 decision in Centennial Conference women’s tennis action on Saturday.
Vying for one of five postseason slots in the fastapproaching conference tournament, Washington (10-5, 6-4 CC), ranked eighth in the Atlantic South Region, improved its chances by upending Gettysburg (8-7, 4-4 CC) to climb into the final position.
Gettysburg jumped out to a lead with juniors Meg Kelly and Kelsey Boyce of Arrowsic blanking Meghan Tait and Kelsey Mills 8-0 at third doubles.
Boyce picked up her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Mills at No. 6.
On Friday, Gettysburg made quick work of visiting York College as the Bullets dropped only 11 games in a 9-0 victory.
Gettysburg (8-6) swept doubles play with No. 3 tandem of Boyce and Kelly kicking things off with an 8-0 win.
The Bullets swept singles play as well with no player dropping more than two games in their respective contests. Boyce won in straightsets over Nicole Olson, 6-2, 6- 0.
