Donna Sue Therriault, 66, wife of Roger R. Therriault, died peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Mid Coast Hospital, in the presence of her family and friends, after a courageous twoyear battle with cancer. Donna was born on Nov. 29, 1947, in Bath, Maine, the daughter of Donald I. Wallace and Marilyn (Machoga) Wallace. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a dear friend to many.

She was a 1965 graduate of Morse High School in Bath and was awarded a bachelor of science degree from Farmington State Teacher’s College (now University of Maine, Farmington). Over the course of her teaching career, she continued to take many teaching related courses.

Donna was a lifelong resident of Phippsburg. She served her community as a member of the Phippsburg School Board and Planning Board. She was a dedicated and talented teacher much beloved by her students. She especially enjoyed teaching science and participating with her students in science projects and experiments. She was a member of DKG Society International and Mid-Coast Retired Educators Association. She taught in Manchester, Maine, at St. John’s School in Brunswick, and, for more than 20 years, at the Bowdoinham Community School, retiring in June 2008.

She was an eclectic person and had many interests. Donna enjoyed gardening in her expansive perennial gardens, and replenishing her plants at Moose Crossing. She especially enjoyed tending to her gardens with the help of her two grandchildren. She was a voracious reader, gathering an extensive collection of all different types of literature. Along with her teaching career and students, she was always focused on her family and many close friends, and especially enjoyed trips to Florida and Disney with them. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and, for many years, used the knitting, quilting, and needlepoint skills taught to her by her grandmother, Julia Wallace. She also was an accomplished artist especially with her watercolors.

She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Marilyn Wallace and her brother Daniel Wallace. She is survived by her husband of 42 years Roger Therriault of Phippsburg, Maine; her sons and their families David Therriault and his wife Jessica of Gainesville, Fla., and Michael Therriault, his wife Megan, and their children Benjamin and Katherine Therriault of Topsham, Maine. She is survived by her sister Janice Lander, her husband John, and their children Megan and Jason, of Portland, Maine. She is also survived by her brother Bruce Wallace, of Phippsburg, her nephew Nathaniel Wallace, of Scarborough, her sister-in-law and brother in-law Jeanne O’Neill, her husband Charlie, and their children Kristina, Katherine, and Gregory of Augusta, Maine, and her sister-inlaw and brother-in-law Janice and James Mandeville, and their children Anthony and Nicholas Mandeville of Sparta, N.J.
