The L.L. Bean Fourth of July 10K and the Bath Heritage Days 5- Miler highlight a slew of road races over the next month.
L.L. Bean 10K
This popular 10K event kicks off July 4 at 7:30 a.m. with a one-mile Fun Run/Walk set for 9:10 a.m. at Memorial Park, on the corner of Bow and Park streets in Freeport.
The first 1,500 to register for the 10K will receive a free New Balance technical running tee.
The fees are $25 online and $5 for the Fun Run.
All proceeds benefit the YMCA of Southern Maine Casco Bay branch.
L.L. Bean gift cards will be given to the top three male and female overall winners, with $200 to first, $150 to second and $100 to third.
L.L. Bean gear will also go to the three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 14-andunder, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 50-54, 55- 59, 60-64. 65-69, 70-and-over, L.L. Bean employee, YMCA member and Freeport resident.
Course records are held by Pat Tarpy (30:52 in 2010) and Kristin Barry (35:12) in 2008.
Packet pick-ups will be held July 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., July 3 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and July 4 from 6 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. at the Old Town Hall, located at 5 Park Street.
Heritage Days 5-Miler
Another popular event on July 4 will commence with a one-mile Fun Run at 7:15 a.m., followed by the Five-Miler at 8:30 a.m.
The preregistration fees are $10 and $17, while the raceday fees are $12 and $22.
The course starts at Bath City Hall and takes runners through some of Bath’s most scenic streets.
The one-mile Fun Run is noncompetitive and fun. Each participant’s time will be catalogued and results will be posted. However, individual awards will not be given out.
The five-miler will award the overall top male and female runner, as well as first-and secondplace top male/female finishers in the following age group: 14-andunder, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50- 59, 60-69, and 70-and-up.
The first 50 five-milers to preregister will receive a road race Tshirt. Additional shirts will be sold on raceday for $10.

Close to the Coast 5K, 10K
Presented by the Freeport Rotary Club and Winslow Park, the 19 annual event will be held June 21 at 9 a.m. at Winslow Memorial Park, Staples Point Road, in Freeport.
The races will be held rain or shine.
Both the 5K and the 10K begin at the entrance of Winslow Park, and the course is run on quiet roads and the forest trails along the ocean in the park, also home of the Lobsterman Triathlon.
Raceday registration is from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 am., with the race starting promptly at 9 a.m.
Both online and mail-in applications are $20, while raceday registration is $25 with a possible Tshirt while supplies last.

Prizes include pies from Orchard Hill Farm. The top two finishers in each race category (13- and-under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-and-over) receive a pie.
All race proceeds support the Freeport Rotary Club Educational Scholarship Program. For the past 18 years the Freeport Rotary Club has given over $150,000 in scholarships.
For children, there is a 1K Fun Run that will begin at 10 a.m., and all children participating in the race receive a prize provided by Wilbur’s of Maine.
The race is part of the annual Winslow Park Family Fun Day. Following the race, runners can enjoy a free post-race party with food provided by Buck’s Naked Barbecue, with beverages provided by Linda Bean’s (Shipyard Brewery) and Gritty’s Brew Pub. There will be two live bands. Opening up is Goldenoak, followed by Tricky Britches.
The prerace registration fee is $20, while the raceday fee is $25.

Coastal Performance 5K
The inaugural Coastal Performance 5K Run For Charity is set for June 28 at 8 a.m.
The event will be held at the Coastal Performance Training Center, 14 Thomas Point Road, in Brunswick.
This is a flat 5K distance in Brunswick, including paved roads that travel along a lollipop course from Cook’s Corner to Thomas Point Beach and returning to the starting point. There will be an aid station at miles one and two.
A Kids Fun Run will be held at 8 a.m., with the 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m.
The preregistration fee is $20, while the raceday fee is $25. Checks should be made payable to The Bath Area Food Bank.

Moxie Days 5K
The 19th annual Moxie Days 5K is set for July 12 with a 7:30 a.m. start.
Course records are held by Justin Easter (15:09) and Erica Jesseman (16:51).
The race begins in Lisbon Falls, behind the X-traMart across from Lisbon High School.
A children’s Fun Run is set to start at 7 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the first male and female finishers, and to the first-and second-place male and female finishes in 12-andunder, 13-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40- 49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-and-over, along with first male and female Lisbon residents.
The fees are $15 for the 5K and $5 for the Fun Run, while the raceday fee is $20.
