PORTLAND — The Portland Sea Dogs committed four errors, falling to the Binghamton Mets, 11-7, in Eastern League baseball play at Hadlock Field on Sunday.
Binghamton took two out of three games from the Sea Dogs.
The Mets scored early and often, plating runs in every inning with the exception of the seventh. Binghamton collected 12 hits and seven walks.
Sea Dogs pitcher Chris Balcom Miller committed a second inning error on a pick-off move, allowing two runs to score. The hurler walked five and permitted five runs (three earned) in four innings.
A home run by Jeremy Hazelbaker, his second of the season, cut the Binghamton lead to 3-1, but two-run doubles by Binghamton’s Pedro Zapata and Sean Kazmar helped the Mets extend their lead to 9-3 through six innings.
Bryce Brentz went 4-for-5 for the Sea Dogs, raising his average to .302. He is hitting .426 this month.
The Sea Dogs head to New Hampshire to take on the Fisher Cats in a four-game series beginning tonight at 7:05 p.m.
