BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin seniors Matthew Egan, Mark Flibotte and Greg Pierce have been recognized in All-American honors announced by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association on Wednesday.
Egan, a defenseman, earned Second Team All- American while Flibotte, a midfielder, took Third Team honors. Pierce, also a midfielder, netted Honorable Mention laurels.
An exceptional man-to-man defender, Egan started all 20 games, caused a team-high 35 turnovers this spring and paced all Bowdoin defenders with 54 ground balls.
Flibotte has enjoyed an excellent season out of the Bowdoin midfield, leading the team with 29 goals and finishing second on the team with 37 points.
Pierce nets his first postseason award after an unsung season in the Bowdoin midfield. An excellent two-way midfielder, Pierce was invaluable in transition for the Polar Bears, earning innumerable defensive clears.
The Polar Bears enjoyed one of the finest seasons in program history this spring, accumulating a 14-6 record, earning a runner-up finish in the NESCAC Tournament and reaching the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time.
