BRUNSWICK — The NCAA has announced individual qualifiers for the 2012 Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship, and Bowdoin’s Coby Horowitz has earned a spot to the championship meet.
Horowitz, a junior, qualified in the 1500-meter run with his time of 3:50.35 at the New England Division III Championships on May 5. He is seeded 10th in the event and will travel to Claremont, Calif., where he will compete in the preliminary race today at 4:45 p.m.
If he advances to the final, he will race on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Horowitz has enjoyed quite a year, having already earned All-American status in both the fall and winter sessions. He finished 13th at the NCAA Cross Country championship in the fall and participated on Bowdoin’s Division III championship winning Distance Medley Relay team in the winter.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
