LEWISTON (AP) — A Maine man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of a woman whose body was found buried in the basement of a Lewiston apartment building last year.
Bob Ryder of Lewiston pleaded guilty on Tuesday in the killing of 38-year-old Danita Brown of New Gloucester.
He told police that he had paid her money for sex. WLBZ-TV reports that he says he blacked out and hit her in the head two or three times with a wooden clock.
Brown’s decomposing body was found last July after she was missing for several weeks.
Police learned of the case after Ryder allegedly told his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor about the incident.
