BATH — The Bath Recreation Department has numerous programs offered for this summer and fall.

Fall Soccer Program

Sign-ups have started. Bath Youth Soccer League is for grades K-5.

Kindergarten clinics to be held on Saturday mornings. Fee is $30 after June 1.

Grades 1-2 held at Hawkes Field. One practice and one game per week. Fee is $40 after June 15.

Grades 3-5 held at Varnum Field. One practice and one game per week. Fee is $40 after June 15.

Summer Challenger Soccer

Aug. 13-17 at Varnum Field and will be administered by Challenger Soccer and the Bath Parks and Recreation Department. Two separate camps will be available (based on age) for the upcoming summer.

Challenger Soccer Camp has been contracted by the Parks and Recreation Dept. to run the three-hour “on-field” portion of the camp. British Challenger Soccer is an international company and is the one of the largest soccer programs working in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.

The coaching philosophy is very popular. At every level of soccer, Challenger Soccer teaches age and ability appropriate curriculum in a high paced, high-energy, safe, friendly, educational environment.

A three-hour, half-day camp is also available with grades 1-3 from 9 a.m. to noon. Grades 4-8 run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost is $120, which includes shirt and ball. A $10 late fee will be added starting on Aug. 5.

Heritage Days races

Heritage Days 5-Miler and One-Mile Fun Run on July 4.

This marks the 33rd annual event. The One-Mile Fun Run attracts family and friends from the age of 3-80. The course takes runners through downtown Bath and along Library Park. This is an event for all ages and all abilities.

The five-mile course also takes runners through the downtown and then out along the Kennebec River to the end of Washington Street.

The Fun Run starts at 7:45 a.m. with the Five-Miler at 8:30 a.m.

The fees are $10 for the Fun Run and $15 for the Five- Miler. Race-day fees are $12 and $18.

Awards will go to the firstand second-place finishers in overall, 14-and-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70-and-up.

Preregistration is recommended, and race-day registration is at Bath City Hall is from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Summer Day Camp

June 25-Aug.10 for children who have completed kindergarten and those entering the fifth grade.

This seven-week program will run Monday, Tuesday (Beach Day), Wednesday, Thursday (Field Trip Day) and Friday and based out of Dike/Newell School.

Participants must be able to function in an outdoor camp setting with a counselor/ camper ration of 1:10.

Benefits of children attending camp includes building self-esteem, increasing creativity, socialization with peers and exploring new recreation experiences.

Camp activities will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the fees are $650 for residents and $690 for non-residents.

Summer Youth Tennis Camps

Grades K-1, beginner players on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

Grades 2-3, beginner players on Mondays from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Cost is $30 for resident, $35 for non-residents.

Xtreme Camp

For grades 6-9 and to be held June 25-Aug.10 at Donald Small School.

Camp Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants may be dropped off as early as 7 a.m. and picked up by 5 p.m. for no additional fee.

There will be no camp on July 4.

Campers will have the opportunity to have fun, socialize, and grow in a safe environment with staff that have experience working with teens. Xtremers will enjoy a variety of activities including gardening, community service, sports, games, swimming, and weekly adventures.

Participants must be able to function in an outdoor, camp setting with a counselor/ xtremer ratio of 1:12.

Campers must bring a lunch, two snacks, and beverage (no soda), water bottle, sunscreen, a bathing suit, towel and extra clothes daily. The full summer fee (seven weeks) is $650 for residents, $690 for non-residents

A pick-a-week option (price is per week) is $115 for residents, $125 for non-residents.

Free breakfast and lunch options are available for eligible Xtremers. Breakfasts will include cereal, fruit and milk. Lunches will include sandwich (or equivalent), fruit, veggie and milk.

Before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. the camp will be supervised with open gym/freetime periods.

All registration fees include the cost of weekly field trip, beach trip, and camp T-shirt (one per participant/summer).

Youth field hockey

For grades K-5 Aug. 20-23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $30 residents, $35 non-residents.

Students eligible by grade as of fall 2012. Camp is run by coach Sarah Bryant.

Camp and training programs are held at Kelley Field at the McMann Athletic Complex.

Fees for grades K-5 are $30 and $35 if registered by Aug. 10.

Grades 3-12 football

Join Morse High School coach Jason Darling, his staff and Morse High players at this skill-building camp for area players.

Equipment will be provided, and cleats/sneakers and water bottles are required.

Players entering grades 3-5 are at Tainter Field June 25-29 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Fees are $30 residents, $35 non-residents

Fees are $30 resident, $35 non-residents.

Football Team Camp

For players in grades 7-8 at Tainter Field on July 9-13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There is no fee for Bath Middle School students, while others pay $30 and $35.

High School Team Camp

For players entering grades 9-12 at Tainter Field on July 23-27.

No fee for Morse High School students, while others pay $30 and $35.

Summer Fun Camp

Shipbuilders’ Summer Fun Camp for ages 4-5 or entering kindergarten.

Join Amanda Shorey and staff in an introductory fourweek program that aims to help children reach their full physical and social potential. The camp setting will have themed activity weeks.

Week 2 program to be held July 16-July 20: “Fun at the Farm!”

Week 3 program on July 23- July 27: “Camping and Stamping!”

Week 4 program on July 30- Aug. 3: “Summer Olympic Games.”

Program will housed out of West Bath School from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost is $55.

Each week includes activities such games, books, songs, and crafts all based around a fun and exciting topic.

Important items to bring: snacks, drinks, water bottle, and sneakers (no sandals). Parents must apply sunscreen on their child prior to arriving each day.

Under no circumstances will any Summer Fun Camp staff member be allowed to apply this product.

Recommended clothing: Tshirt, shorts, socks, sweatshirt, sweatpants (on cold days), and bathing suit and towel (for hot days).

During extremely hot and/or humid days, various water games may be offered. All participants receive a Tshirt during their first week.
