
He was born in Portland on November 21, 1959, and was the son of Lawrence and Shirley (Holbrook) Barton.
He grew up in Raymond, where he attended school and the Raymond Congregational Church, and continued his education in Vero Beach, Florida.
John loved fishing, Rock & Roll and camping. He was an avid Sea Dogs fan and enjoyed attending their home games. He also loved the annual trips to Old Orchard Beach with Kelli, Gail, Judith, Steve and Leo.
John was predeceased by his best friend, Dave Dow.
He will be sadly missed by his parents; his sisters, Pat Jorge and her husband Joe, of Altha, Florida and Sher Hooper and her husband, Larry, of Jefferson; his brother Tim Barton, of Woolwich; and his family at R.A.F.T.S. in Greene.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at R.A.F.T.S., Inc. and the residents of 75 W. Main St. for the care and friendship they extended to John.
A memorial celebration of John’s life was held at 10:00am on Monday, August 6, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be sent to R.A.F.T.S., 75 W. Main St., Greene, ME 04236.
