NEWCASTLE — St. Cecilia Chamber Choir will hold auditions for all voice parts for the coming season on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 12 and 13, or on other dates by appointment.
According to a news release, singers wishing to audition should have good vocal control, and sopranos and altos should be able to sing without vibrato. Tenors and basses need not be able to sing with a straight tone.
The ability to read music to some degree is preferred, but those who cannot read may participate by spending extra time learning the music at home. Gifted student singers are encouraged to audition.
The choir sings a variety of challenging repertoire from the medieval period to new compositions, with a concentration on English composers.
Rehearsals are in Newcastle on Wednesday nights, with performances in Newcastle and Brunswick, and occasionally other locations.
The choir is directed by Linda Blanchard and accompanied by Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta.
To schedule an audition, call director Linda Blanchard at 380-2768 or email audition@ceciliachoir.org.
