OLD ORCHARD BEACH (AP) — Police say a 23-yearold man is charged with murder and arson in the death of his 62-year-old grandmother, whose body was found after a fire in her house in Old Orchard Beach.
Stephen McCausland, a spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, says Derek Poulin was arrested Saturday at his mother’s home in Portland. Poulin and his father lived with the grandmother.
Authorities have not yet said how Patricia Noel died. Firefighters discovered her body Tuesday.
Detectives from state and local police, along with fire marshal investigators, have been probing the fire and analyzing evidence from the scene.
Poulin is being held in the York County jail. It’s not known if he has an attorney. He is expected to make his first court appearance Monday or Tuesday.
