WINSLOW (AP) — The town of Winslow is mourning the deaths of two high school students killed this weekend when the vehicle they were in collided with a taxi.
Police say a car being driven by 16-year-old Scott Loisel of Winslow crested a hill at a high speed, went onto a dirt shoulder, darted across the lane into oncoming traffic and hit the cab head-on Friday night.
Police say Loisel and his passenger, 16-year-old Alexandria Ferland of Vassalboro, died at the scene.
Police say the taxi driver and his two passengers were hospitalized in stable condition Saturday with undisclosed injuries.
Both victims attended Winslow High School. The Morning Sentinel reports that a moment of silence was held in their honor at the school’s football game Saturday.
The investigation into the crash continues.
