PREVIOUS ELECTED EXPERIENCE: Lisbon School Committee 2014 to present; Lisbon Town Council Charter Member 2006-2013
What is the biggest need your constituents are expressing as you speak with them while campaigning and how can the Legislature address this?
Long term good paying jobs are the most prevalent concern of constituents as I visit. Many are concerned about the recent loss of jobs and contracts at BIW. The Legislature must work closely with local, state and federal partners to attract businesses to our area. Continued steps toward making Maine as business friendly as possible are a must.
Are there areas to cut money from the state budget without cutting services to people who need them, and if so, where would you start cutting?
Continued work in the area of welfare reform by cracking down on those that have made welfare a life destination, particularly those that are young and able to work. Also, downsizing government by cutting red tape and reducing unnecessary programs.
What makes you the best candidate to serve in this office?
For the past 10 years I have served in the Town of Lisbon on both the Town Council and the School committee. I have also served on various boards and committees that enhance existing business and help to draw new business to Lisbon. Lisbon is an ideal location, close to major cities here in Maine. I have played a part in many areas promoting Lisbon for business attraction. I have always been open to constituent insight and opinion concerning local issues. As a lifelong Maine resident, my focus in Augusta will reflect the values that I have always held for this great state.
