SOUTH PARIS — Anna Cowan netted a pair of goals as the Brunswick High School girls soccer open team opened Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference girls high school soccer action with a 4-0 victory over Oxford Hills on Saturday.
Brunswick, 1-0 and scheduled to visit Erskine Academy today at 3:30 p.m., received a goal each from Paige Tetu and Rachel Moroney, with Kassidy Scarponi, Lena Martin and Moroney picking up one assist each.
“Oxford worked very hard and caused some problems, but overall I thought the whole team did well, with outstanding efforts by Lyse Henshaw, Lauren Carlton, Rachel Moroney, Paige Tetu and Anna Cowan,” said Brunswick coach Martyn Davison.
The Dragons outshot the 0-1 Vikings 16-8. Haley Murano turned aside seven shots. The Dragons finished with a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

In season-opening Mountain Valley Conference play on Monday, the Greyhounds and Roadrunners traded secondhalf goals before going into overtime.
Kayla Angelico converted a Gabby Ouellette feed with 16:32 left in regulation for Lisbon, scheduled to host Telstar on Wednesday.
Ivy Mitman tied the game with 7:39 left on a Jenie Rowland feed.
Lisbon outshot Mt. Abram 14-9, with goaltender Courtney Martel making five saves.
LEWISTON 1
MT. ARARAT 3
Christine Levesque, Libby Ouellette and Chelsea Crawford scored one goal apiece as the host Eagles opened with a KVAC win in Topsham on Saturday.
Michelle Pelletier had seven saves in the Mt. Ararat (1-0) win.
The Eagles visit Oxford Hills tonight at 6 p.m.

In season-opening, nonleague play on Friday, Class D Richmond got goals from Amber Loon and Sadie Gosse and hung on to beat Class C Old Orchard Beach.
The 1-0 Bobcats are scheduled to host Buckfield Wednesday (3:30 p.m., which is a change from the original time).
Loon scored off a Gosse corner kick as she one-timed the ball into the net at 11:33 of the first half and Gosse scored at 2:45 of the second half.
Anna Foss scored for OOB with 8:55 remaining.
“After we went up by two goals there was a stretch of about 15 minutes when we were back on our heels. Mostly, though, it was back-and-forth,” said Richmond coach Troy Kendrick.

Sarah Hanley scored three goals and Shania Marr picked up three assists as the Wolverines opened MVC play with a victory at North Anson on Saturday.
Hanley’s second and third goal sandwiched a score by Miranda McIntire as Wiscasset turned a 1-1 halftime deadlock into a three-goal lead in the first six minutes of the second half.

On Monday, Kasey Cromwell netted a pair of goals 18 seconds apart in an MVC win over the visiting Falcons.
Cromwell scored her first goal on an 18-yard blast with 13:40 remaining in the first half, and gave her team a 3-1 lead with 13:22 left.
Wehrle’s tally came with 22:02 remaining in the contest to complete the scoring.
Gordon had six stops in goal.
