HAMPDEN — Lizzie O’Neal and Micaela Mitchell scored a goal each as the Mt. Ararat High School field hockey team ended a two-game Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference losing skid with a 2-0 victory over Hampden Academy on Monday.
Kaely Lewis set up O’Neal for a goal just 1:19 into the game, and Mitchell doubled the advantage, with Caitlin LaFountain earning an assist with 22:15 remaining in the contest.
The 6-4 Eagles, who visit Bangor on Saturday at 10 a.m., outshot the Broncos 12-3. Hampden (2-7) held a 6-5 advantage in penalty corners.
Mt. Ararat netminder Taylor Pare had three saves, while Hampden’s Katie Seekins turned aside nine shots.

Tallie Martin had 13 saves as the Falcons (5-4- 1) picked up a Western Maine Conference tie against Waynflete (5-3-1) at Portland.
Catherine Torrey had six stops for the Flyers.
Lorin Martin and Reiley Parker played well for Freeport, which visits Sacopee Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m.
